Lamar Jackson, the Baltimore Ravens quarterback, doesn’t believe his ankle will be an issue after getting checked out on the sidelines during the first quarter of Thursday’s 34-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaking to reporters after the victory, Jackson said he’s “feeling good” and the extra rest before Baltimore’s next game will help. “I’m feeling good,” he said. “Coach gave us a few extra days off. I’ll be good for the Chargers.”
Jackson was running away from the defense and decided to get rid of the ball. However, he was tackled by Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson. It seems that Jackson’s ankle got stuck under Wilson’s body as they fell to the ground.
After being checked by the medical staff and testing his ankle on the side of the field, Jackson continued playing without any breaks. His performance showed no signs of being affected.
Jackson completed 16 out of 26 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 54 yards on nine carries. This was his first game with more than one touchdown pass since Week 7 against the Detroit Lions.
There might be concern in Baltimore if Jackson takes a while to recover from his injury. Jackson, a former NFL MVP, couldn’t play the last four games of the 2021 season because of an ankle injury.
Jackson was unable to play in the last five regular-season games and a playoff loss to the Bengals last season due to a knee injury.
Even though Jackson seems to be okay after the game, it was a tough game for Baltimore in terms of injuries. Head coach John Harbaugh mentioned that tight end Mark Andrews may have a severe ankle injury and may be out for the rest of the season.
Odell Beckham Jr. hurt his shoulder in the fourth quarter. However, he doesn’t seem worried that it’s a major problem.
Thursday’s win was important for the AFC North race. The Ravens and Bengals had recently lost in the last seconds. Baltimore now has a record of 8-3 and has beaten the Bengals in both of their matchups this season.
The Ravens, Browns, and Steelers each have three losses. The Ravens are leading the division because they have two more wins than their rivals. Their next game will be on November 26 against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium.
